Every once in a great while, a game comes along that flawlessly combines excellent gameplay, a fantastic universe, terrific tone-setting music, and unrivaled art direction as a single package. Elden Ring, an action RPG game, is one such example. Releasing on February 25, 2022, the game stood out to be one of my most outstanding experiences of all time as its intriguing open world, enticing puzzles, hard-to-solve mysteries, and secrets proved to be incredibly satisfying and rewarding for me.

Storyline and Background

Shedding light onto the game’s story, Elden Ring depicts an ancient world. The game has been carefully crafted by Miyazaki and his team on the game’s history provided by the Television industry’s Blockbuster Game of Thrones creator George RR Martin.

The marvelous world featured in the game knows no limits. The game has to offer a diverse map that is not restricted by any domain and never fails to amaze you. The ability to find unknown locations and do anything you like will allow you to enjoy the game to the fullest. The gratifying feeling of traveling to places inaccessible before through the standard path but made available through one’s creativity is unmatched.

Elden Ring’s way of rewarding is unique and makes it stand out. The characters are highly customizable; you can create your hero by equipping them with unique skills. Although combatting ability varies from person to person, melee combat is higher, more diverse, and improved than ever. Whether it is battling with spells or weapons, combat in the game is one of its kind as it rewards the player with learning and patience and instills in them a feeling of precision and heft. The graphics and the overall gaming experience is top of the line. The hills, mountains, underground dungeons, and valleys give the game a realistic touch and a rare, authentic texture. The game has to offer unmatched achievement of creativity and design along with an addictive charisma which makes Elden Ring one of the best releases of all time.

What I do not like about the game

Talking about my criticism of the game, it just gets annoying at one point. Yes, I love solving mysteries and figuring things out myself, but in many instances in the game, one would have to look up to guides to progress forward. Moreover, this may not be the best pick if you’re looking for a story game. There are some memorable characters and cutscenes in the game, but not enough for the game to be categorized as a Storytime game.

From the actual video game design perspective, Elden Ring is a beautiful accomplishment. It also made a challenging but not overly punishing game that anyone, including those who aren’t Soulsborne fans, should be able to enjoy. Elden Ring even outperforms Skyrim in many aspects, which is the last open world game that thrilled me. It’s a game that anybody and everyone can enjoy, and it merits the vast sales success we’ve experienced. Elden Ring combines various outstanding game elements to give the gaming industry an end product that is enchanting, captivating, and unforgettable. Not only is this game one of the best releases of 2022, but it is one of the best games ever to be released.
